What Amouage Interlude Man actually smells like
Interlude Man is often described as smelling like a burning tyre in a cathedral, and the people who say that mean it affectionately. Oregano and pimento open it with a strange herbal bitterness, then an enormous frankincense-and-myrrh accord takes over, smoky and resinous and almost overwhelming. Underneath sits leather, agarwood and a filthy patchouli.
Performance is legendary — twelve hours plus and sillage that announces you from the corridor. This is not a fragrance for shared offices, small meeting rooms or anyone who wants to blend in. In winter, worn by someone who understands it, it is magnificent.
Amouage bottles cost what they cost and Interlude Man is far too extreme to buy blind. This is arguably the single strongest case in our catalogue for buying 2 ml first.

Amouage Interlude Man FAQ
For most people and most settings, yes. It is one of the biggest, smokiest fragrances in production and it does not compromise. One spray in cold weather, for evenings and outdoors, is the sensible way to wear it.
The combination of heavy incense, cistus and leather creates a smoky, slightly acrid facet in the first hour that some noses read as rubbery. It settles into a warmer resinous amber after that.
Complete opposites. Interlude is smoky, dark and enormous. Reflection is clean, floral and refined. Most people find Reflection far easier to wear and Interlude far more memorable.
