What Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt actually smells like
Wood Sage & Sea Salt is a very simple fragrance executed extremely well. A dry mineral sea-salt note sits against green sage and a faint driftwood warmth, and that is essentially it. There is no development and no drama — it smells like standing on a windy coastline, and it does that better than anything else.
It is a cologne concentration, so longevity is modest at four to five hours and sillage stays close. Jo Malone build their line around layering and this is one of their best base fragrances, particularly with something warmer or sweeter over the top.
It is genuinely unisex, seasonless and about as inoffensive as fragrance gets, which makes it a common choice for anyone who wants to smell clean rather than perfumed.

Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt FAQ
Most of the line is cologne concentration, which is deliberately light. Four to five hours is normal. Jo Malone design their fragrances to be layered and reapplied rather than to last all day on one spray.
Warmer and sweeter fragrances sit beautifully on top of it — vanilla, amber or a light gourmand. It also pairs well with citrus colognes for a fresher effect.
It is expensive for what it is, and it is also genuinely lovely and hard to replicate. A 10 ml decant is a sensible way to enjoy it without paying for a bottle you will use lightly.
