The fragrance
What Hermès Terre d'Hermès actually smells like
Terre d'Hermès is one of the few genuinely artistic mainstream masculines. Jean-Claude Ellena built it around an unusual mineral flint note that sits between a bright orange-grapefruit opening and a dry vetiver-cedar base. The effect is of warm stone and citrus peel, and it smells like nothing else on a department store shelf.
It is restrained and elegant, lasting seven to eight hours with a moderate sillage that stays close after the first hour. It is one of the safest and most respected office fragrances there is, and it suits a wide age range without ever reading as either youthful or old.
The EDT, EDP and Parfum concentrations are quite different, and the flint note is the sort of thing that needs a full day on skin to appreciate. Ideal decant territory.

Dry, mineral and slightly metallic — like warm stone or the smell just after striking a match, without the sulphur. It is the signature of the fragrance and the reason it is considered a modern classic.
The EDT is the reference and the brightest. The EDP is smoother and rounder with a bit more longevity. The Parfum is the densest and most vetiver-forward. Most people should start with the EDT.
Entirely. It reads as considered rather than mature, and it is one of the better fragrances for signalling that you know what you are doing.
